Welcome back ladies and gents. August is coming to an end and that means football is right around corner. While everyone is getting ready for their fantasy drafts, the big issue that is coming up that always comes up is big time players suffering season ending injuries in preseason games. As a result, a lot of people are saying the preseason is too long and that these star players shouldn't play in them anyways. I never really cared for preseason football, but I don't think they should make any changes to the preseason. When it comes to football, some of these injuries (ACL injuries) can happen regardless of what time of year it is. Also, those preseason games are opportunities for low draft/unsigned free agents to earn their spots on teams. Besides, NFL owners don't want to have less preseason games anyway. You take away those games and you take away revenue opportunities. What are your thoughts on this?
This week, my spotlight beer is Pumpkin Barrel Ale by Kentucky Ale. This is a pumpkin ale that is aged in oak bourbon barrels. The ABV on this beer is 10% and in my opinion it is a pretty easy drink. A lot of times when you drink a beer aged in bourbon barrels, you get strong notes of bourbon with each sip. That is not the case with this beer. The bourbon taste is at a minimum. The pumpkin flavor is good and the spices aren't strong either. If the ABV was a lighter, I could drink these all day. However, I would probably stick to 2-3 at the most. Either way, this is a good beer and will be a great choice once the fall comes around.
Well that is all for now. Until next time, drink responsibly and enjoy your beer!
