It's Masters week! The first of four majors in the PGA Season and arguably one of the most prestigious weekends in sports. For almost 20 years one thing has been consistent with the Masters and that is Tiger Woods being in contention for another Green Jacket. However, back surgery will prevent Tiger from playing in the Masters for the first time since 1994. Tiger Woods is arguably the greatest golfer of all time who only measures his career on being able to catch/surpass Jack Nicklaus' record of 18 major titles. Tiger already has 14 titles himself, but he hasn't won a major since winning the 2008 US Open with a torn ACL. He has won many tournaments since, but he keeps falling short on the ones that matter most (The Majors). Because of this, the big question has come up: Is Tiger Woods done? I believe that the answer to this question is yes and no. I say yes because the truth is that Tiger Woods will never be the same player he was in 1999-2001. He was winning tournaments like he was playing his own video game with all of his stats on 110. Because of that, he has set now impossible standards and his body has caught up to his aggressive style of swinging. Mix that with these new, young players being a lot better and you won't end up winning 8 tournaments a year with ease. On the flip side, this is Tiger Woods we are talking about here. Even though he is 38, he still has at least 8-10 years to win at least 4 more majors. Secondly, despite being hurt and older, he still is the best player in the world. When he is dialed in, he is still capable of beating the field by 5 shots or more. The thing that may help him most is that a lot of the golfers on tour still fear him. He may not dominate consistently anymore, but his name still demands respect whenever he shows up at the top of the leaderboard. At the end of the day, I still think he'll reach Jack's 18, but how he recovers from this recent surgery can really paint the picture of his future. So what do you guys/gals think about this?
And now for the Beer of the Week. The beer I have picked this week to highlight National Beer Day (April 7th) is Choosy Mother by Isley Brewing Company in Richmond, VA. Choosy Mother is a peanut butter oatmeal porter that is 6.6% ABV and a smooth drink with peanut butter, chocolate, and oat notes. I know what some of you might be thinking: who wants their beer to taste like peanut butter? Well, the great thing about this beer is that peanut butter notes are not overwhelming and is very complimentary with the chocolate and oats. This is a good relaxation beer and I give this 4 kegs out of 5. If you want to learn more about this beer and the other beers Isley offers, you can visit www.isleybrewingcompany.com.
Until next week, Drink Responsibly and Enjoy the Beer.
