Welcome back Jabronis. A few weeks have gone by and I have a few thoughts on whats happening in sports.
1) College Football created a playoff system to have a more definitive national champion and the new system is driving people crazy as much as the BCS. Don't worry folks, things will work themselves out.
2) NASCAR created a new chase format to put more emphasis on winning races. Well, going into the last race of the season this weekend Ryan Newman has 0 wins but can win the championship if he finishes the highest out of the 4 drivers going for the cup. This new process may have created more buzz (just a little bit), but if Newman wins the title, it will make the chase format seem like a total sham.
3) College basketball is finally back this weekend. I'm expecting big things from UNC and ODU this year and I think this season is going to be very competitive.
4) The NBA season is a few weeks in and the Cleveland Cavaliers are already the most talked about team in the league. Will they figure out how to play together? Does Kevin Love already plan on leaving? Is Lebron playing crappy on purpose? I say the calm down. If they are still playing bad in February, then complain.
5) My Atlanta Falcons are 3-6 this season and are only 1 game out of first place in the NFC South. Thank you NFC South for being sh***y this year.
Now for my thoughts on the DC Beer Fest at Nats Park this past weekend. The weather was nice out and unfortunately that is really the best thing I can say about the event. The event was only 3 hours long for general admission and the wait time for beers was crazy. I only got to try about a third of the beers that were served, but some of the breweries I liked include Port City (Alexandria, VA), Devil's Backbone (Lexington, VA), and Crooked Run Brewing (Loudon County, VA). Maybe next time, they'll extend the event by an hour or so.
Before I get out of here, please take some time to visit Ya Boozin?, founded by Dave Lee. It's still growing, but we can help make that process faster. It's affordable merchandise and the perfect question to ask your friends heading into the weekend.
Until next time, Drink Responsibly and Enjoy your Beer.
